Genre Research: Black Panther
Welcome back to my blog. These next few blogs will be about movies my group and I chose to research and use to build our opening scene on. The first movie we chose was Black Panther. The first thing that the audience hears is a child and their parent voice. The story turned out to be the background story of where the dad is from Wakanda. Which leads the movie to a sandbox type of thing that demonstrated and drawn out everything the dad was saying as he was saying it. Once the story was done being told, the year and place of the Movie was displayed on the screen, 1992 California. During this the audience can clearly see the relationship between the characters. Since when the king walked in the two people who were previously in the room bowed down to him and had to hide their weapons. The Mise-en-Scene also made sense. The two men living in California wore t-shirts and pants that everyone living in California around that time would be wearing. Whereas the people coming from Wakanda wore tribal clothing. The king aka Black Panther wore his costume/his suit. The jewelry both sides of people had on also match their background. The way their hair was also made sense and matched where they came from. The location was linked but it was still two different places. One location was inside of the apartment and the other was the basketball court where the kids were standing. You could look out the window of the apartment and there was the basketball court. The people in charge of Black Panther bounced between those two locations in the opening scene. So it showed what was happening at both locations during the same time. We want our movie to have more than one location. Instead of showing what is happening at different locations at the same time we will show different angles of what is happening at a location. Their props also make sense, the two men in California had guns and more modern weapons than the people from Wakanda. We want to incorporate props into our opening scene too. The movie also had the words Marvel Studios on the screen too.
