Planning & Editing Blog



Welcome back. Now that we've went down the basics of the project, we're now onto my own individual part. I haven't started filming at this time which means no editing. But, I did start my planning. Going off how the script is written, I don't have that many solo scenes. So I would need to record myself having the conversation but also leave enough space for my other groupmate to answer. It shouldn't so rushed or looked rushed. We're trying to make this film look as professional as possible. Now the next scene where I'm out of my room is when I go to the mall with the other girls. That scene will also be relatively easy to film. The only thing is again making it fit nicely into the video. Something I'm worried about is the quality of the film. It's going to be so many different devices recording each parts. I would hate for some parts to look better than others. We all know that's not how it works in the actual filming industry. I also want to make sure when I'm recording myself to place the camera down in the same spot each time. My character doesn't get up too much because she's in her bedroom speaking to her friends. But I don't want anyone to be able to spot inconsistences. I just need to pay close attention to detail and take my time. I shouldn't have no problems after that.

  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? -   My product uses conventions by having on heavy display the song "Independent Women Pt. 1" and having the matching outfits and more. Things that bring in the idea of Destiny's Child as a group. Having little moments where we seem real close was important because Destiny's Child always came off as a sisterhood and nothing less. It represents the teen social group or just anyone that's a fan of Destiny's Child because it's a Destiny's Child song.   How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?  -  My product doesn't engage with any audiences because a music video very rarely does. If anything, the only way I can think of it engaging with an audience is maybe if we had incorporated "fans" into the video. A music video is usually all about the artist and their art.   The next step of our project is planning .  T his is the time where we  think of which  conventions,   we  want to incorporate  and which ones  we will  le a ve out.  There  were a  lot of conventions   seen and noted . However, we can only fit so much into a minute-long vide o .    Props:  Since the song is about women getting  what they  desire  through their own  earnings, the  scene  where  we a re  at the mall  props such  as  money , shopping bags ,  and what we buy will be used.
