How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
- My product uses conventions by having on heavy display the song "Independent Women Pt. 1" and having the matching outfits and more. Things that bring in the idea of Destiny's Child as a group. Having little moments where we seem real close was important because Destiny's Child always came off as a sisterhood and nothing less. It represents the teen social group or just anyone that's a fan of Destiny's Child because it's a Destiny's Child song.
How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
- My product doesn't engage with any audiences because a music video very rarely does. If anything, the only way I can think of it engaging with an audience is maybe if we had incorporated "fans" into the video. A music video is usually all about the artist and their art. If this was a real media text, it would be distributed on Youtube and maybe even on TV because sometimes music videos come across there.
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
- My production skills didn't develop too much throughout this project just because I really had my learning experience on my last project. By watching my groupmates recording and asking questions definitely helped me. I also tried to get better angles and cleaner shots with this project because a music video is never supposed to be anything but clean but that's about it for me.
How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
- Me and my groupmates did multiple videos but for mine, I filmed everything on my phone and then I sent the videos over to my email. Once I got them on my computer, I downloaded and uploaded them onto OpenShot. After I got them on the editing software, I lined up the videos in a way where it would make sense. Then I made sure the music video was a minute, no more or no less. The last thing I did was add music that matched the video and sent it to our group chat to be reviewed. I have the same process for every video because this is one of the only ways that's proved to be successful for me.
